Hubby is an espresso connoisseur! Last weekend, we were running some errands and were looking for a place to hang out while waiting for our appointment. Since we were one hour ahead of schedule, we decided to have some fast food nearby. This place is not your usual fast food. They don’t serve fast food but they serve fresh food as fast as they can. The food was healthy and cheap and fast! Unfortunately for my hubby, espresso was not on their menu. This is part of my husband’s meal ritual…wine, food, & espresso. But luckily, we spotted an “Italian” deli down the street and got really excited! The place screamed “ESPRESSO…ESPRESSO”. So, we finished our meals quickly and then headed over to the Italian deli. Long and behold, they had no idea what my hubby was talking about.
Hubby asked the cashier, “I don’t see an espresso machine, do you serve espresso?”
Cashier replied, “Espresso?”
Hubby, “Coffee!???”
Cashier, “Oh, coffee! No, we don’t have coffee.”
Really? Isn’t this an ITALIAN deli? It’s like a Chinese restaurant not serving soy sauce as a condiment. How could you not know what ESPRESSO was? How dare you? As an Italian descendant, my hubby was extremely disappointed! So off we went to hunt for coffee…any coffee like a drug addict! To our surprise, we stumbled upon this charming café bakery few blocks away. And you know what? Coffee AND espresso were on their menu! Their coffee was good but their espresso was unexpectedly great (according to my hubby, a good espresso is when there’s a creamy foam that doesn’t break after the first spoon dip). Just like our love, good espresso came when we least expected it!
Thank you for visiting and have a fabulous day!

Really? Italian deli not knowing what espresso is? Yup, espresso is my husband’s routine too and he’s picky about it. Too watery, to flat, not foamy enough, too much.. all the complains. His espresso should be short, with a layer of foam or ‘smiling’ he calls it so that when he pours his sugar it will slowly sink in rather than instantly disappear! So the best is to have it at home, from his machine 🙂 Lovely ensemble, loving the white on white

Just lovely … textures, beautiful color accents, and especially your shoes. So few can wear so much white so well! Sorry about the espresso fail, but glad you finally found some. We only do coffee at our little restaurant, but we do a double throw of our fresh ground French roast … we add espresso beans at home for our own custom blend! It’s an Irish pub, though, so we can be forgiven, I hope, for no espresso.
Thank you, Jan. I think espresso is expected at an Italian deli/restaurant…so a good coffee from an Irish pub is a bonus!

Thank you, Daphne.
I understand about expecting and not finding the Italian items you are looking for at an “Italian” deli. We have the same problem here in Florida. Before opening they should really consult with an Italian to make sure all items are available and approved. 😉 Blouse is adorable, the shoes and other accessories pull the whites together.
