I’m heartbroken. I received the saddest news last night. My grandma, who raised me like I was her own daughter, had passed away. She was 106. I am very sad that I couldn’t see her one last time. I had made plans to visit her in a few weeks. Unfortunately, it’s not soon enough.
Even though my grandma was illiterate, she was a very accomplished successful entrepreneur. She was always positive and optimistic. She taught me a lot. Not only did she teach me how to walk and talk, she also taught me how to drink coffee at 4 (that explains why I refused to nap as a kid), and gamble at 5 (got that out of my system at a very young age!). The greatest lesson she had ever taught me was how to become an independent woman. For that I will always thank her. She was my hero, my ultimate Mama. I love you Grandma and I will miss you.

[hand on heart] my deepest sympathy. It sounds like you’re quite blessed — having a woman…mentor…and strong-hold in your life for that long. You’re her legacy, and it shows.
