Happy Hump day everyone!
Spa treatments are expensive but we mamas need to get away once in a while and treat ourselves. Even if I can get half an hour of me alone time I’m happy. Whenever I can’t get away to a spa I try to simulate a spa setting at home while the boys are napping. One of my favorite spa treatments is the body scrub.
I rarely get a body scrub at the spa because they are so darn expensive! But I do get this spa treatment once in a while. I’m actually heading to a spa in a couple weeks with my girlfriends to get a body scrub plus a massage. Since the birth of my boys, my skin has changed dramatically…so much dryer than before. A couple months ago, a girlfriend of mine introduced me to this homemade body scrub. It really made my skin buttery soft! I used it a lot on my hands and feet. The best part is that it is so much cheaper! I liked it so much that I thought I should share it with you.
Here are the ingredients that I used for the batch that I just made. The ingredients are personal preference but just remember the main ingredients should always include the sugar and the coconut oil.
- 1 cup of organic coarse raw cane sugar. I spent $4.49 for a 24 oz. and still have left over to make a couple more batches. You can use coarse salt but the chunkier the better.
- 1 organic lemon. Free from my parents’ lemon tree.
- 4 tablespoons of organic coconut oil. I spent $5.99 for a 14 oz and still have left over to make a couple more batches.
- 1 table spoon of organic argan oil (personal preference…you don’t have to add this).
- 1 table spoon of organic olive oil (personal preference…you can use sunflower oil).
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl. It should be a creamy consistency once it is done. Scrub this on your body, hands and feet for 2 minutes each. Rinse with lukewarm water…don’t use any soap! Just pat your body/hands/feet dry with a towel. I put the left over in a jar and use it again and again until I need to make a new batch.
Thank you so much for visiting and have a fabulous day!

I’m always looking for organic natural products. I love that you can make it yourself. I hardly ever use a body scrub and I agree it’s so expensive at the spa. I’ll have to try this at home. If I don’t use it all, does it need to be refrigerated?
Hi Teresa, I don’t refrigerate mine. However, I would only refrigerate it if it is extremely hot in the summer.
OMG. I have to try this. It sounds fabulous and is super inexpensive. Thanks for sharing.
I would love for you to stop by my blog and enter my latest giveaway. I will be picking 3 winners.
