Happy Hump day everyone!

When is the right time to bring your kids to the theatre and watch a movie together? Two, three, or four? We’ve been asking this question since our boys turned one. Yes, we were anxious to get them out of the house so that the whole family can do movie night. When they turned two we thought we saw a glimpse of hope because they started to enjoy watching tv more so than before. Now that they are two and a half we thought it was time because we’ve been noticing their tv watching attention span had jumped from 15 minutes to half an hour…sometimes even more. Or, so we thought…
We took them to see Free Birds last week. Since it will be their first movie we thought we should dress them in their favorite outfits from FabKids (Dragon & Stripes and Football) . To keep them warm their outfits were paired with the faux leather biker jackets (also from Fabkids). Don’t they look badass? Once we got to the theatre they were more excited about eating the popcorn and the chocolate raisins than watching the animated characters on a really big screen. They had no clue about Free Birds…I didn’t either.
Half an hour into the movie, they wanted juice. So far so good…we might even be able to watch the entire movie!!! After having their water instead of juice they decided to clean up the theatre by picking up the trash on the floor. Forty five minutes into the movie they decided to treat the seats like monkey bars and park slides and chanted “no more movie…no more movie”….okay, your message was loud and clear…time to get the hell out. You guys are certainly not ready for Big Time!
Thank goodness they didn’t throw any tantrums…that was a big plus in our book! So we have no idea how Free Birds ended. Were these birds able to change the course of history by getting turkey off the Thanksgiving menu for good? We might have to find out from the DVD!
