Recapping 2013 and Preparing for 2014

Happy New Year’s Eve everyone!

I can’t believe the year 2014 is tomorrow.  As amazing as the year 2013 has been for me it passed by faster than the speed of light.  If I can recap or reflect the awesomeness of 2013 for me then it would be…

1)  Healthy Family.  I’m grateful and blessed not to have to spend too many sleepless nights to attend to my sick children.  My boys are 2 and half and have not gotten sick since birth.  Alexander had an ear infection once and developed a low grade fever but he was fine the next day.  Hubby has been very healthy.  I got sick once but it quickly went away.

2)  Supportive Husband.  Gabriel is my rock.  He’s been so supportive with whatever I wanted to do.  Having the twins changed the trajectory of our life.  I don’t think Mama in Heels would exist if it weren’t for the twins along with the huge support from hubby.

3)  Reconnecting with Long Lost Friends.  Thanks to Facebook, I have been able to reconnect with friends from Elementary to Junior High to High School and even College.  Relationships can come and go but you will always have friendships with your friends even if you had not seen them in years.

4)  Growth of Mama in Heels.  This blog has been growing leaps and bounds thanks to your support.   I started this blog to document our life and my fashion and beauty finds.  I was happy with just 1 to 2 readers (really!).  It has been an incredible and amazing journey and it’s been an honor to be able to share it with you.  I only share what I love and believe in and will continue to do so.

5) Fellow Bloggers.  I met so many amazing and talented bloggers through the blogosphere.  These remarkable women inspire me every day to be not just a better mom, a wife, but a better person.  I became friends with some of them 🙂

To me the road to happiness is doing what you are passionate about.  Aside from analyzing and programming data, fashion and beauty have always resonated with my soul.  As soon as I learned how to read English (at 9 years old) I would always curl up with my Seventeen, Glamour, and Vogue magazines.   I would remember every style and beauty tricks in every issue, and to this day I still remember those models (that’s frightening!).  I love to continue to share my fashion expression and beauty finds with you.   For me, fashion is a form of expression.   I never liked picking out my clothes the night before because I wanted to decide my look based on my mood.  Most if not all of the style posts here were formulated within minutes and mostly based on my mood at the time.  What better way to express yourself than through, pattern, color, texture, and style!  Thanks to the internet I’m able to share that with you.

I’m looking forward to more progress in 2014. There will be some changes to Mama in Heels, namely a facelift for the website has been scheduled for early January.  A few series will be introduced.  The most exciting news is that starting January 7^th, I will be co-hosting with Nicole from Momtrends, Alison from Get Your Pretty On, and Lulu from SimplyLuluStyle where every Tuesday we will be talking about and sharing our favorite beauty products.  The best part is that each month we will be having a super giveaway.
