Happy Friday and hope you are ready for the weekend!
Last weekend, I found myself with limited free time on my hands, which is often the case. But for this occasion I felt like I was moving every task faster than the speed of light. We were celebrating our sons’ 3rd birthday and had decided to FINALLY throw a party for them. I’ve been asked (and possibly criticized by friends) on numerous times why we didn’t throw parties for our kids. Well, for once they were too young to know let alone comprehend with what’s going on around them at parties. So we decided to spare everyone the pain of attending such mundane parties and instead celebrated our kid’s first 2 years with immediate family members.
Well this year, it was time. The boys were turning 3 and they could walk, talk and run without our help. I have hosted numerous parties and events with a fair share of group size but all paled in comparison to this one in terms of planning, organizing and deploying. Yes, this sounds very business but this event in my opinion mirrored the velocity and the full force of a major conference; announcement of the event, registered for the event, count of heads for food and refreshments, activities to engage the adults & kids and entertainment to keep the kids happy and busy.
The execution of the party was more daunting than the planning and organizing process. Caring and watching the boys while mingling was not an easy task. Thankfully it was a success. Of course, I was not able to pull off such enormous affair without the help from the entire village…literally! My three sisters helped a lot; one was responsible for getting the helium balloons and Easter eggs, another sister bought refreshments while the remaining one bought and stuffed the Pinata. On top of that my parents enlisted their friends to help out with cooking the food for 50+ people.
Both hubby and I collapsed immediately following the party. We were tired but felt a contentment that was indescribable. We worked so hard and furiously for the party so that we could have moments like this, a moment to see such joy and happiness not just from our kids but also from our family and friends and their kids on this special day.
Thank you so much for visiting and have a fabulous and safe weekend!
