When we purchased this home a little over a year ago we remodeled everything except the bathrooms, kitchen and the flooring in the kitchen/dining areas. Why? Because these areas were fine and liveable. Given they are the most expensive areas to remodel we thought it would make economical sense to wait and save. Now that we are ready we’ve been daydreaming about how we want our kitchen and bathrooms (and other rooms need major furnishing improvements too!) to look.
When it comes to real estate (and we’ve done a number of transactions from condos to income properties) we firmly believe that no matter where we invest there are 3 rules that we abide by besides Location, Location, Location; the property has to be livable, rentable (yields the highest ROI) and sellable (yields a higher appreciation than average). So when it comes to decor we follow suit. Almost all the homes we have reomodeled and renovated in the past, we kept everything neutral, classic and timeless. These rooms are no exceptions! I know that sounds boring but you can never go wrong with this type of design and believe me your dollar will stretch farther not to mention your ROI will be higher than the norm. Which means your home will go up in value.
Here’s a sneak peak of our current master bathroom. Keep in mind that we had already stripped the floral and stripe wall papers!

I’m so inspired by this post. I’m tempted to redo our master bathroom – but it’s livable and redoing it would be expensive. If I can find the right contractor, I might just jump on it!
It took us a while to finally decide to really renovate. Finding the right contractor is the key because you can locate materials anywhere and purchase below retail. I already got 3 quotes and 1 looks promising 🙂
