Moles are raised black or brown marks on the body. They can be as small as a dot made with an ink pen or as large as a thumbprint. In most cases, people are generally indifferent about a mole and don’t consider it unsightly. In fact, models like Cindy Crawford even think it looks cute. When removing a mole, be cautious around moles on your face, as you don’t want to leave a scar that was worse than the mole itself.
Before deciding on how to remove a mole, you should first consult a doctor. A doctor can look at a mole and see whether it is benign or cancerous. However, in most cases, moles are benign.
Here are nine simple ways to remove moles:
- Visit a doctor.
If a mole is cancerous, you should have it surgically removed. If it’s benign, you can either have it surgically removed or try a home-remedy. After a surgeon shaves off the mole at skin level, he or she will either cauterize the skin or stitch up the wound. There is either no scarring or almost indiscernible scarring with surgery. However, with home remedies, it can be more painful, with the surrounding skin becoming inflamed and even leaving a scar. This can happen if the mole removal is not done carefully by using a cleansing solution for too long. By far surgery is the best method, but it can be the most expensive.
Here are some tips on how to get rid of skin moles using natural oils:
- Only use homeopathic extracts as these are gentle on the skin and prevent scarring.
- Apply with fingertips or cotton swab without covering up the mole with band-aid.
- Only use a few drops.
- If mole does not drop off in two weeks, then continue use. In most cases, moles fall off in one or two weeks, but stubborn moles may need more time.
Put a few drops on a cotton ball, dab it on to the mole, then cover up the mole with a bandage or band aid for an hour. Do this daily until the mole either disappears or falls off.
- Use Iodine
Only use a five percent solution. A drop is more than enough. Apply first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Cover with a bandage or band aid. In a week, the mole should fall off. Iodine is toxic if accidentally ingested, so it is better to first put a drop on cotton wool before rubbing on the mole and immediately wash your hands thoroughly.
Buy some fresh organic garlic from your grocer. Do not buy garlic oil or crushed garlic in jars. Before bedtime, slice a clove and put that on the mole, cover it with a bandage or band aid and leave it overnight. Do this for several nights in a row, until the mole disappears or drops off.
Strip the peel of a banana and place the inside of the peel against the mole, then cover it up with a bandage or band aid. Repeat for several days, and the mole will dry up and fall off.
Moisten a half-teaspoon of baking soda with castor oil and make it into a paste—that is, it should not be too dry or too runny. Dab it on to the mole and leave overnight. Repeat for a few days.
Slice a fresh strawberry and put the inside slice of the strawberry in contact with the mole. Do this for several days until the mole disappears.
Squeeze the juice out of a fresh grapefruit into a container, use some on the mole and refrigerate the rest. Do this repeatedly through the course of a day, and do it for several days in a row. It sometimes takes two to four weeks to work.
- Use Tea Tree Oil.
Put a few drops of tea tree oil on a cotton ball, dab it on to the mole, then cover up the mole with a bandage or band aid for an hour. Do this twice daily. It may take a month for the mole to disappear.
Don’t Give Up
Sometimes these methods work and sometimes you have to try out several methods before you begin to notice results. Sometimes, too, you see that your efforts are having results and sometimes the results are too subtle to notice with the naked eye. Finally, sometimes, they work within a week, while at other times they take longer. The best way to get rid of skin moles is to try one method after another, giving each one at least two weeks. Some moles fall off quickly, while others take a long time to dry up and fall away.
