Where do I begin? I live in Los Angeles, 1 of 10 most traffic-congested cities in North America, probably in the world. I’m fortunate to be able to work from home to avoid traffic during rush hours. But, really LA is traffic-congested 24/7.
When the team at Tom Tom contacted me to help them spread the word on their #GetHomeFaster launch campaign, I didn’t know what to think. What IS TomTom? So, it’s a GPS device that can really help you get home faster. Not only do they have the most up-to-date traffic information but also due to the traffic intelligence resource that is widely used by local government and traffic agencies to help solve mobility issues. Well, I already have a built-in GPS app on my smartphone so will this device really help me? I decided to take the challenge for the past few weeks.
So, how does this device work? It comes with a USB cable that connects to a holder. You can easily mount this on top of your dashboard. Once connected, you can start navigating in two taps. What are the features of this device?
1. It pinpoints exactly where your delays start and end, tells you how fast the traffic is moving and how long the delays are likely to last. TomTom Go chooses the fastest route through traffic because TomTom Traffic kows the traffic conditions.
2. TomTom Go is the only navigation device with a ‘Jam Ahead’ warning for traffic incidents, which tells them exactly when they’ll hit the jam and warn them in case they’re moving at a faster speed than the traffic ahead.
3. TomTom Traffic covers 99.9% of all roads allowing you to have precise traffic information wherever you go.
4. You can see building and landmarks in stnning 3D. With 3D Maps, you’ll always know exactly where you are.
I have to say though as much as I love my GPS app on my smartphone I now rely heavily on TomTom Go. Here’s why:
1. I get real-time taffic information, which saves me time wherever I go.
2. The device is intuitive and very easy to use. Type an address, select the address, and tap the Drive icon to go.
3. The device tells me what the speed limit is on the road and how fast I’m going.
4. Their quick search feature saves me time to locate the destination. TomTom Go starts suggesting addresses and points of interest side by side as soon as you start typing.
The TomTom Go device has saved me so much time on the road. Did I mention I took this device with me on my recent travels and my shuttle bus driver profusely thanked me for saving him time for getting us to the airport earlier than scheduled? I also took this device with us to our most recent trip to Las Vegas. You know how bad traffic can get during a long weekend and TomTom Go saved me and my family from getting stuck on the 15 fwy on our way home to Los Angeles.
