A midi skirt is the perfect ladylike addition to every wardrobe, office included. Yes, this trend was very popular back in the 50s and it was exploded since last fall and most likely continue into this fall. This look is universally flattering, you just have to know how and what to wear it with. For this series, we are focusing on how to wear this trend in an office environment without looking frumpy and stumpy. Before we get into that just remember these tips to look your best at an office setting:
Makeup: Wear natural looking makeup, no bold red lips.
Nails: Clean, neat, and natural looking. Ditch the claw nails!
Hair: Clean, neat, and natural looking. Ditch the hairspray bottle!
Top: No cleavage! Leave the girls at home. Wear a tank top underneath if your top is low-cut.
Bottom: No ripped denim whatsoever. Save them for a night out or weekend errands.
Accessories: Keep it simple. The fewer the better. I always wear a watch, stud earrings, and a dainty necklace. Leave the excessively cute, big, or loud accessories for a night out with your spouse/partner or girl friends.
Shoes: No running shoes.
How to Look for that Perfect Midi Skirt:
Let’s start with your height; tall vs. petite. If you are tall, look for a midi skirt with hemline that hits below the knee and above the ankle. If you are petite like me, make sure the hemline hits below the knee and above the calf.
What to Wear with a Midi Skirt:
All these 4 looks above are office friendly but the key is to keep it feminine and simple. You can add a white tee up top with some accessories that highlight the shade of the skirt. Don’t forget to add a belt to cinch the waist to keep the focus on the slimmest part of your body. In my opinion, ballet flats, kitten heels, or pointy shoes would go best with this skirt. Of course, you can’t complete this outfit without the appropriate accessories; I’m talking about the right handbag not jewelry. The best handbag to pull off this ladylike appeal is a polished top-handle style handbag. If you want to elevate your look from office to cocktail then a bunched-up clutch would be perfect. Remember, never ever wear a crossbody bag because they are just unflattering when it comes to midis.
Do you have a midi skirt in your closet? If not, no worries I have located some affordable (less than $50) but chic and office appropriate midis for you to peruse.

Midi skirts look really great. I think they look more eloquent for tall women. Good post. 🙂
Thank you, Aishwarya!
love the floral less than $50 pick! I would wear this with a crop top. Although I immediately didn’t find that they would be flattering, they actually are when you accentuate the waist!
