Happy Monday everyone! Hope your weekend was treating you well.
I don’t have a particular style although I love wearing basics. For the most part, I love wearing whatever makes me feel and look good. If the garment happens to be affordable that’s even better. It’s no secret that I love to hunt for clothes from thrifty shops to discounted luxury online stores. My style is constantly evolving and one of the trends that I’m beginning to feel comfortable prancing around is the boho chic style, which is currently on-trend. I’ve always loved this style because it’s cool, hip, and effortlessly feminine. Besides, this trend is so in your face right now that you mind as well learn how to master it!
I always thought it would take too much effort to put a bohemian outfit together because it looked so complicated to me. Besides, being petite did not help because anything long, flowy would make me look like a kid in her mom’s clothes. Like most crafts, it takes time to understand, educate and ultimately master those skills. Thanks to all the magazines (hard & cloud), lookbooks from shopping sites (love Shopbop’s!), and boho chic goddesses like Rachel Zoe, Kate Moss, Sienna Miller and the Olsen twins, it’s actually not as hard I had thought. Here’s what I’ve learned.
Boho Color Palette: Typical boho colors are rich and warm that have earthy tones with splashes of orange, green, and magenta. Remember to keep the color combinations simple so no more than 3-4 colors is ideal.
Layering: Layering is the key. So layer a basic top with an over-sized cardigan, then followed by jewelry with a chic bag.
Vintage: Another important element is to wear things in the past. Today’s bohemian fashion is very much inspired by the 60s and 70s. So look for inspiration in wide leg pants, kaftans and floral dresses.
Ethnic Elements: Last but not least, the bohemian style is influenced by every corner of the world. So add a bit of exotic texture and richness to your look.
You don’t need to have a particular style to pull off that boho chic look because it is universally flattering to anyone with any body type or at any age. This style will remain one of my favorites this year if not for years to come.
