Hello everyone!
Today I’m introducing a new series called “School Drop Off Attire”, where every Thursday I share one of my school drop off/pick up outfits . The Amazingly Chic & Affordable series is moved to Fridays to replace the Simple Indulgence series, which ended last week. To kick start the new series, I’m sharing one of the outfits I wore earlier this week.
My twins started their Pre-K almost two months ago and that completely changed our routine. If you are following me by way of Instagram then you know I post my OOTD at least twice a week, especially when I drop off/pick up my twins from school. Since I received so many direct messages about the rest of the outfits I thought it would be fun to share a peek at what my “usual” school drop off attire looks like.
Luckily I don’t have to start my day at 4:30am every weekday like most moms but I still have to scramble on those days to get my twins to school on time while looking presentable at bare minimum. As usual we run a very tight ship, if not even more so now. I’m fortunate that hubby can take them to school on most mornings while I pick them up after school. I no longer have the luxury of spending an extra 5 or 10 minutes to tame my stubborn Chinese hair. Instead, I do a fast run from brushing my teeth and putting on SPF/CC cream to adding some color to my lips while getting their breakfast ready. By the time they’re done eating I have to help them brush their teeth, put SPF on them, and get them dressed for school. By the time I’m done with my calls at work it’s time to pick them up.
I usually have a set of uniforms (mostly in basics) that I schlep on within minutes and run out the door. I actually shot these photos right before picking up the twins – yes, I had no makeup on except a red lip, and my hair didn’t even get the proper care.
Frankly, I don’t need to get all dolled up when dropping my kids off to school. But I do think it’s important to look presentable and not boring or overly done up (unless, you’re a working mom who needs to head to the office right after). That’s why I invest in a lot of great basics like this outfit where I can repeat them often. Really, school drop off attire should be easy and effortless, not complicated.
I try to remember the three Cs whenever I get dressed; casual, classy and chic. Now go drop your kids off and don’t forget to rock your best frock, Mom!

That is effortlessly chic! I bought a similar top a few months ago, but it has seemingly pulled a disappearing act. 🙂
