Happy Columbus Day! Hope your weekend was treating you well.
I personally love dresses more than skirts and my closet can attest to that. I don’t own a lot of maxi skirts because of my petite statute and, for the longest time I was convinced any maxi skirt would swallow me up. I was also convinced that you can only wear them during the spring and summer with sandals and gladiators – so why would I buy something that has a short life span. Thanks to Pinterest, magazines (hard & icloud) and some inspirational bloggers, I now know how to rock a maxi skirt year round regardless of your size or height, especially being petite because they can actually make you look taller if styled correctly and mixed appropriately.
For spring and summer you can style the maxi skirt with a tank top, a basic tee, a crop top and finish the look with some jewelry and gladiator sandals. For fall and winter, pair the maxi skirt with a blazer (or a jean jacket) over a tee, or tuck in a button down shirt and cinch your waist with a belt to give the outfit some shape. If you want to go boho, you can pair it with a long sleeved shirt, scarf, and a fedora. One of my favorite ways to rock this skirt in fall is to pair it with a cozy sweater because it looks effortless and feels incredibly comfy. My latest maxi skirt obsession is this Agatha Pleated Maxi Skirt from Skirtista because it is feminine, sexy and versatile.
I was really excited when Rhea contacted me again to collaborate. I love working with her because she is genuinely nice and I really want her to succeed. We met through the blogosphere and months later bonded over coffee. Shortly after that, she relocated to another state 🙁 Thanks to technology we’ve been able to keep in touch since then 🙂
If you have not heard of Skirtista then you need to stop by her shop because she has some of the most beautiful skirts and dresses that are kind to your wallet. Rhea is also super friendly to work with 🙂
With this addition I still see more dresses than skirts in my closet. Frankly, you only need 1 or 2 maxi skirts in your wardrobe because they are very versatile not just year round but for years to come.

Thank you, Molly!
Janise this is such a beautiful, dreamy look on you!! If you hadn’t mentioned about being petite and I was visiting for the first time I’d guess you were at least 5’7″ or over… You’re right about petites being able to wear maxis as long as you get the proportions right!
Thanks so much for linking up to #iwillwearwhatilike, hope to see you next week for pink (or anything else you’re wearing) 🙂

Thank you, Catherine! I’m pushing 5’2 so I try not to wear anything that would swallow me up!!! Will see you next week 🙂

I can’t get over how great this outfit is! I love the light and dark purple colours together. And the pleats with the turtleneck are so cool!
