Welcome to the Get to Know series where each week I introduce a new blogger behind him/her blog with Q&A’s – with personal revealing results. Check back on Wednesdays for your weekly peek behind the blog left slightly ajar. This week I’m featuring Ana De-Jesue from Faded Spring, a blog focusing on photography and colours or themes to speak out against misrepresentation of social groups in the media, bullying, abuse and stereotypes of femininity.
Blog Name: Faded Spring
Your Name: Ana De-Jesus
Years of blogging: have been blogging 5 months.
What is your blog about?
Faded Spring is a niche platform that provides a voice and security for the ‘social other’. Speaking about social issues, concerns surrounding the fashion industry and an honest outlook to life, I stand up for those ignored by the media and government. I combine surrealistic photography with my love of lyrical poetry and this transcends into my commentary on fashion. Unlike mainstream fashion bloggers I use photography and colours or themes to speak out against misrepresentation of social groups in the media, bullying, abuse and stereotypes of femininity.
How often do you blog?
When I first started out it was once every two weeks and now I post four times a week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
Best compliment you have received?
I speak about personal issues that have affected me growing up and I cannot pick the best compliment that I have received because I have been supported by such a wonderful and loving community and I am grateful to have their love. One of my favorite comments would have to be on my post.
If you could be any age for a week, what age would that be and why?
I am fairly young as I am only 22 so I am not sure what age I would be but I know for certain I would not go into the past as it dredges up too many powerful memories. I think it would be interesting to look into the future and go into my older self. If I became 40 for a week I would be able to evaluate the pros and cons of my life and what I could bring back into my 22 year old self.
If you could retire tomorrow, what would you do?
I would travel the world and experience cultures that exist outside the European sphere. There is a whole realm out there waiting to be explored and I want to make my mark on it. From a young age I have been bitten with wanderlust and that has not changed since I have got older. I am passionate about culture and history and as I grow older and retire I want to live out the dreams I never had as a child.
If you could spend the day with any celebrity, who would it be?
I admire a series of celebrities but I don’t necessarily consider myself to be a fan girl. However I think it would be interesting to spend time with Matt Mcgorry from OINTB who considers himself as a male feminist. Matt speaks out against female inequalities and publicly campaigns for women’s issues and that is a trait that I admire. I would like to know what defined his transition from non-feminist to social advocate. If you could retire tomorrow, what would you do?

Your dream vacation? Worst vacation? Best vacation?
My dream vacation will probably differ from its reality but I have always wanted to visit Egypt and the cultural diversity and history that lies beneath the arid sand. I am an avid lover of Egyptian culture and my dream would be to visit Nefatari’s tomb which is now closed to the public due to erosion. However I am claustrophobic which is why the idea is probably better in my fantasy! My best vacation has to be in my first year of university where I went to Madeira to visit my relatives and explore the island. Madeira is a beautiful location to shoot and it has always been a dream of mine to do a professional photo shoot there. I don’t really have a worst vacation as I have only been to two countries Madeira and Sweden due to personal issues but there has been some moments that are best left in the past.
Your favorite book and why?
I have over 1K books in my personal collection so to categorize it into one book is near impossible especially since my nature is so indecisive. My favorite genre however is historical fiction-surprise surprise and my specialty eras are Tudor, Medieval and Ancient Egypt.
