goat milk yogurt-1I’ve been blogging about fashion and beauty tips for the past couple years, but the premise behind Mama in Heels is a destination to offer tips, ideas and ways to live a healthy, fabulous life without breaking the bank.

As a family, we lead a pretty healthy lifestyle.  Our typical diet includes organic whole grains, fruits, vegetables, fish, poultry, and some red meat.  In other words, we eat (or trying at every meal) a balanced meal every day.  We are mindful of what we put in our bodies but we also don’t deprive ourselves when occasional indulgences are presented.

So starting this month and every month thereafter, I will share one healthy living habit with you.

To kick off this new series I’d like to share something that I never thought I would enjoy eating.  Now, keep in mind that I’m not a cheese/dairy person so it took some convincing for me to get used to.

For the past couple weeks I have been eating goat milk yogurt with nuts and fresh fruits for breakfast. Why now and why not before? Okay, as a self declared beauty junkie I read a lot about skincare and health, especially celebrities that look young and youthful without surgeries.

One actress that I recently discovered about her secret to younger looking skin is Andie MacDowell.  This woman is in her late 50s and she looks amazing – so youthful and radiant.  I think she looks so much better now than she did 20 years ago.  So I learned that in addition to getting an hour of exercise each day she also eats goat milk yogurt and goat milk kefir.

After some research I learned that goat milk has better health benefits than cow milk.  Goat milk is high in calcium, fatty acids but low in cholesterol.  It is also less lactose than cow’s milk, which helps those who suffer from lactose intolerance.

I don’t know if I can look as good as Andie MacDowell once I reached her age but if I at least add goat milk yogurt to my diet I know my health will improve in the long run.

I hope you will love this new series as much as I love sharing it.  Until then, have a great weekend and I will see you on the blog next week.
