September is almost over and my birthday is around the corner.  Almost every year during this time, I can’t help but reflect and ponder about my life.  Am I where I wanted to be?  Have I evolved?  Have I matured?  What mistakes have I made and how can I learn from them?  How do I help my community? Am I wiser?  And so on.

Just because we grow older doesn’t mean we acquire wisdom by default.  Wisdom is gained through experiences, knowledge, and challenges and learn from them.  I’ve been through highs and lows in my life but with each experience, I was able to learn from my mistakes and walk away with knowledge and strength.  They were painful but offered so much insight that has helped me make better decisions in terms of relationship, parenting, and friendship.

Am I afraid of getting old?  Of course.  Now that I have kids I want to stay healthy and strong so that I can enjoy my everyday moments with them.  That’s why I often stress the importance of healthy living on this blog by eating healthy and exercising regularly.

Yes, I may not have reached every single dream I had as a child.  Yes, my journey might have led me to other destinations.  But overall, I feel The Fantasticks!

  1. I think its always good to do some introspection –
All I can say is that its SO TRUE there are people who are older than I that have not evolved, have not matured… and its a shame. AS you say: older does not mean wiser.
