Father’s day shouldn’t be the only day that the family shows dad how appreciative they are of him. Because my husband works so hard, the kids and I love to do things to show how thankful we are.  The great thing is you don’t have to spend a lot of money and you can spend time with your children doing something for the man you love. Check out some of our ideas below:

  1. Wash The Car

My husband’s car is precious to him, so making it look good certainly put a smile on his face. All you have to do is grab a few buckets of soapy water, some rags, and the kids and head outside. If you have a car vacuum or a long enough cable to use the house vacuum, you can also detail the inside making sure to get in all the nooks and crannies so the interior is just as nice as the exterior. The kids will have a great time play in bubbles and getting dad’s car all nice and clean.

  1. Let Him Watch the Game

If your husband is anything like most of the husbands of America, Sundays in the fall are pretty much off limits. With a television provider like DIRECTV, he can watch every live football game on the big screen. How can you add to his happiness? Make sure the kids are occupied so that he can watch the games in peace. Whether you allow them to watch another channel on another television in the home or you take them to visit their grandparents for the evening, your husband will certainly appreciate the space.

  1. Make Him Breakfast in Bed

If your husband works hard all week, allow him to sleep in on the weekend and make him breakfast in bed. You can share recipes with the kids and allow them to help you make dad something he’ll enjoy. If you have younger children, try preparing something like pancakes or waffles that can be placed in the toaster so they can be involved without getting hurt.

  1. Give Him the Day Off

For an entire day, you and your children have to take care of all of dad’s responsibilities. Allow him to do things he enjoys or just catch up on some rest if he wants to. Not only will doing things like taking out the trash, walking the dog, and doing the yard work make dad happy, it will also give the kids a better appreciation for all that he does for the family.

Hopefully, these ideas have given you a head start on ways to celebrate dad. Eventually, you’ll learn to create ideas that gear more towards your husband’s interests. Every once in a while, it’s a good idea to let him know just how much he means to the family. Getting together with the kids and coming up with ideas to surprise their dad is an awesome way for you guys to spend quality time doing something nice for someone else.

  1. Awww….I really love this. All too often, we don’t show our husbands/dads the appreciation that they deserve. I think I’ll do something wonderful for my hard working husband tonight after being inspired here. Thanks so much!
