I hope you had a lovely weekend. Mine was quite busy, painful and emotional. After taking the boys to their baseball practice I decided to try the Be Fit Full Body Workout exercise that night. That half an hour session raised my heart beat and really kicked my butt. I’m still recovering as I type this. I also saw Kubo and the Two Strings with my kids – an emotionally charged film. We loved every moment of it. I highly recommend this movie if you have not seen it. Oh, and the song “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” really matched the tone perfectly for this insanely beautiful movie…George Harrison would have been proud!

Today I’m sharing one of my latest denim obsession – distressed ripped jeans. Yes, that effortless imperfect perfect casual look that every fashionista, blogger, celebrity, and street queen is wearing these days.

I would often get asked from my followers and friends if there is a certain age that you should stop wearing ripped jeans. Meaning, are women over 40 too old to wear distressed denim.

I’m well over 40 and I don’t feel old. I wear what I want based on how I feel at the moment. Having said that you may want to maintain a classic sense of style by not going overboard. You don’t want to look like you just walked out of the Walking Dead set sans the makeup.

If you are over 40 and love the distressed look, here are some styling ideas that you can pull off effortlessly…

Pair it with a sweater like the one here and complete the look with simple pumps and a statement bag.
Pair it with casual staples like a t-shirt and a utility jacket.
Pair it with a cardigan, a statement heel, and an amazing bag.
Pair it with a chic blazer and add on a pair of stilettos.
Or simply go boho with a hat and plenty of swag jewelry.

My number one style guideline when it comes to the distressed look is to keep everything simple, and that look is appropriate for all ages, even well into your 70s.
