If you are young like me (ha!) then you should remember Hard Candy polish ‘Sky’, the iconic baby blue polish. I remember buying that first bottle at Fred Segal but could only wear it on the weekends. My workplace at the time was quite conservative and wearing non-traditional polish color was frowned upon. That was 20+ years ago. Today most of us are sporting a rainbow of different nail polish colors across different work platforms.
Wow, times have changed. So have Hard Candy Cosmetics.
Hard Candy Cosmetics is now known for more than a nail polish company. They have a complete line of makeup that is affordable and on-trend. They recently launched a new color correct line, sold exclusively at Walmart. There are three products that I have been using for the past week and am absolutely thrilled to share with you. Here’s my take on each product
Nº 1 Cushion Tip Color Correct Creme Gel – Shade 1241 (peach) $6
Claim: This color-correcting serum instantly provides weightless color correction of any skin coloration concern. Packaged in a tube with a cushion tip, no additional tools are needed; simply blend the color correction into skin using the cushion. Target and correct your major skin concern in one simple step. Once blended, follow with your shades of Glamoflauge Concealer for extra coverage.
This comes in four shades; such as, green to neutralize skin redness due to sunburn, rosacea, uneven skin tone, or acne, yellow to neutralize mild skin redness due to mild sunburn or acne, lavender to neutralize dullness and sallowness on medium to dark skin tones, and peach to neutralize dark circles and spots on fair to light skin tones.
My Take: I wear this under my foundation to cover the brown spots on my cheeks. It also neutralizes the redness areas around my nose. My skin looks even toned thanks to this creme gel.
Nº 2 Color Correct Radiant Makeup Primer, Shade: 90852 Yellow $5
Claim: Hard Candy Color Correct Radiant Primer is the first step in neutralizing your skin concerns. These primers are formulated with hydrating ingredients that blend easily into skin and provide you with a neutral, smooth base to begin your makeup routine. Apply the primer after cleansing and moisturizing your face. Rub the primer into your skin until it is absorbed. Once the primer is dry, continue with your normal makeup routine.
This comes in six shades: such as green to neutralize skin redness due to sunburn, rosacea, uneven skin tone, or acne, yellow to neutralize mild skin redness due to mild sunburn or acne, pink to neutralize dullness and sallowness on fair to light skin tone, lavender to neutralize dullness and sallowness on medium to dark skin tones, peach to neutralize dark circles and spots on fair to light skin tones, and orange to neutralize dark circles and spots on medium to dark skin tones.
My Take: I have my favorite primer and a couple more that I have been testing. This one acts more than a primer. I apply this after cleansing and moisturizing my face by rubbing the primer into my skin until it is absorbed. It takes approximately a minute or so. Once the primer is dry, I apply the foundation and continue with my normal makeup routine. My face texture is smooth and looks even toned.
Nº 3 Color Correct Concealer Stick, Shade 852 (Yellow), $5
Claim: A creamy, blendable, pastel stick concealer that helps camouflage skin imperfections. These color corrections feature a pencil shape that is precise and easy to apply. You’ll never need a sharpener for these soft, retractable pencils that are suitable for both beginners and professionals.
My Take: I’m not a big fan of concealers in general because I feel that they tend to cake up the makeup more so than a foundation. I tried this concealer anyways and it’s not bad. My under eye dark circles are not as prominent after a coat of foundation.
Overall, I think the affordable correcting line from Hard Candy Cosmetics is a great buy. You can also try this new line at Walmart. Or, you can enter below for a chance to win their Color Correct Stick, Creme Gel, and Primer. You get to choose your shades for your skin tone.
To qualify, you must be U.S. Resident over 18 to enter. You know the drill! Good luck! Until then, I will see you on the blog next week.
Disclosure: I was given the Color Correcting Line Stick, Gel Creme, and Primer in exhange for a reivew. As always, all opinions are my own
