This is the second installment of the Living in Los Angeles monthly series where I write a short recap of the high’s and low’s of living in Los Angeles each month.

The weather in February in Los Angeles is typically cool with a little less rain and slightly more sunshine.  However, this February’s weather has been feeling extremely warm with lots of sunshine and absolutely no rain.   I’m not complaining but we really need the rain.

Overall, it was a busy month for us from hubby jetting off to Memphis, Tennesse for a performance to a movie premiere.  Here’s how we rocked February in style!

LAURA FABIAN CONCERT

Not many people know who Lara Fabian is but I have been a fan of hers for over 20 years.  She sings in 7 different languages and writes most of her songs.  One of my favorite songs that Lara loves to perform is Caruso.  She sings it at a very slow pace with only a piano accompaniment, the best version ever.  You don’t have to understand Italian to feel the pain and emotions of this song.  I get goosebumps every time I hear her sing this song.

So for Valentine’s Day celebration hubby bought her concert tickets months before to surprise me.  He had a performance in Memphis, Tennesse the same weekend but managed to fly home to catch the concert with me on time in Pasadena, CA.

The concert was better than expected.  Although I have seen Lara performed in concerts on tv nothing really beats a live performance.  Her show was out of this world!   I have to say that I have never ever seen an artist who gives so much to her audience.  She was just as powerful and pitch-perfect as it was 20 years ago, and every song was sung with passion and full of emotions.  In my opinion, she’s the best female singer in the world (voice is clear and not nasally).

SUSHI OF NAPLESlos angeles

Both hubby and I went to Sushi of Naples in Pasadena to grab some sushi right before Lara’s concert.  It’s so hard to eat bad sushi once you had the best.  I would not recommend this place unless you are really really hungry.  The sashimi platter was mediocre and the yellowtail with jalapenos (I order this dish at every sushi restaurant) was terrible – the fish was not fresh and on top of that they were not properly sliced – too thick which made them taste like a big chunk of raw fish in your mouth.  Very disappointed.

 UNWRITTEN

We drove to Vegas over the weekend to attend hubby’s movie that he starred in, Unwritten, a suspense thriller movie.  I tried to take good pictures to share on Instagram but it was just impossible when your kids had 5 scoops of ice cream right before the premiere.  Let’s just say I was doing a lot of walking and chasing in my four-inch heels that night.  Overall, we had a great time.  The movie was better than expected and we can’t wait for the release.

THE TITANIC EXHIBIT

While in Vegas we decided to visit the Titanic exhibit at the Luxor.  Our twins are obsessed with Titanic so they were really excited they got to see the display of artifacts related to the legendary Titanic and being able to learn interesting details about the ship.  Their favorite part of the tour was being able to put their hands on the big iceberg.

  1. That’s a terrible sushi eating experience but awesome that you got to go to the concert! Sometimes you just have to roll with the punches right? I need to take my son to the Titanic Exhibit he’ll probably enjoy it too.
