Welcome to my third series for 2019, Investment Of The Month. Each month I share an investment item that is in sync with your long-term plans like a coat that will last a lifetime, a bag that can potentially yield a higher return, or a travel accessory to lessen any travel-related stress.
I love traveling but what I love more is traveling light. If you have been following me then you know that our family of four recently traveled to Sicily with four carry-ons for our 14-day trip and four carry-ons plus one check-in luggage for a 17-day cruise to the Baltics. Although the carry-ons were sufficient for our trips there were some challenges in terms of accessibility and sturdiness. Let’s just say we’ve been in the market shopping for a new one.
I’ve been searching high and low for a carry-on that is sturdy, light, yet has all the bells and whistles to store my travel needs at my fingertips. I have found what I’ve been looking for, the LOJEL (Let Our Journeys Enrich Life) Cubo, and here’s why this travel accessory is the investment of the month…
EASY ACCESS
I want a carry-on that I can easily slip my laptop in and out of. This eliminates the need to carry an extra bag just for the laptop. Or worse, open your entire luggage (so the world can see what color of underwear you packed) to retrieve your laptop at the security line. And for international travel, I’d prefer a place that I can access my hard copy airline tickets and passport without fumbling through my purse. The LOJEL Cubo’s front compartment (my favorite feature) is designed for easy access in tight spaces.
LOCK
I often bring a small lock with me in case I’m being asked to check in my carry-on if there’s not enough overhead bin space on the aircraft (hi Southwest!!!). The Cubo has the TSA lock feature that keeps your belongings safe and to also keep them from spilling open at any point during the journey.
STORAGE ROOM
I pack very light..to the point where I would only bring 3 colors (black, denim and cream) of clothing that I can mix and match. But having more space for unanticipated shopping trips really helps. The Cubo has an expandable room that would provide extra space I need it to curb my shopping addiction.
HARD SHELL
Whether it is a carry-on or a piece of check-in luggage, it is important to invest in a suitcase that is built with a hard shell. In general, suitcases do get around, especially if you are a frequent traveler. They are thrown, squashed, and even get kicked around. The Cubo is made from lightweight polycarbonate, so they are built for a lifetime but still light enough to pick up comfortably.
SMOOTH MOVING WHEELS
I think all suitcases should be made with 360 moving wheels. I used to drag my luggage around and I got tired really fast. The Cubo has these smooth moving wheels that you can walk along with simply by navigating it next to you. There’s no pushing, dragging, or tugging.
I have invested in a few carry-ons since I started my solo travel in my early 20s but most of them had a survival rate of 3 years the most. I saw the LOJEL Cubo from my Instagram feed and knew instantly that my search was over.
If you are a frequent or occasional traveler, investing in a sturdy carry-on like the Lojel Cubo, is an investment in yourself and your travel experience because you want to minimize the number of things that can go wrong, thereby lessening potential stress along the way. I can’t wait to take the Cubo with me for my upcoming trips this year to Las Vegas, San Francisco, Argentina, Peru, and France!
This chic carry-on suitcase is worth every penny and you can find a diverse range of designs on their website to pick from. I highly recommend this for your January 2019 investment.
DISCLOSURE: Thank you Lojel for gifting the Cubo. As always, all opinions are my own.
