I often get asked about my complete skincare regimen. Like I said before skincare is healthcare and to me, it is a holistic approach.  But I do have a skincare regime that I follow religiously every morning, every night, every week, every month, and I just added a new one for every year.

I have been sharing my habits to healthy youthful skin and tidbits of skincare products here and there but have not shared my complete skincare regimen timetable.  So, in this post, we will discuss the skincare regimen that I’m very disciplined and proud of.  Just like my commitment to daily flossing and brushing my teeth I won’t be able to sleep if I don’t follow these steps.

MORNING ROUTINE

Step 1: Cleanse my skin with a grapefruit face cleanser to purify and balance my skin.

Step 2: Smooth my skin and to stimulate cell turnover and renewal without leaving my skin dehydrated with this exfoliant I’m obsessed with lately.

Step 3: Use cotton balls and apply this vegan and cruelty free toner to seal in moisture and prevent moisture loss while delivering electrolytes and antioxidants because I have mature, very dry, and sensitive skin.

Step 4: Apply a layer of hyaluronic acid serum.

Step 5: I swear by niacinamide serum and have been using this along with the hyaluronic acid on step 4 to help hydrate and visibly reduce the look of hyperpigmentation for a dewy, reflective glow.

Step 6:  Eye cream is a must, especially for my mature skin.

Step 7: I’ve been using SPF on my face and body since my teen years and I really love this SPF 40+ serum that also combines Vitamin C to brighten and moisturize the skin.

Step 8: I recently added this moisture veil as an added step to my morning routine to seal the moisture.  This moisturizer leaves skin soft and smooth with a silky finish.

You can see the common theme here  – hydration hydration hydration.  If you are in your 20s and even early 30s you don’t have much to worry about except to make sure you put on SPF to protect your skin.

NIGHT ROUTINE

Step 1: Remove makeup if I wore makeup during the day.

Step 2: Cleanse my skin with the same cleanser.

Step 3: Apply the same toner with cotton balls.

Step 4: Apply a layer of the same hyaluronic acid serum.

Step 5: Apply a layer of peptides.  I’m obsessed with this serum because it has copper added, which can help build new collagen and elastin into the skin.

Step 6: Apply the same eye cream to tame those visible lines around my eyes.

Step 7: Apply an overnight restorative cream to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles while restoring firmness and elasticity to the skin.

Step 8 (optional): I only apply facial oil when my skin needs a boost of hydration especially during the winter months.

WEEKLY ROUTINE

You can pretty much find me in some facial mask ritual every Saturday morning while I do household chores.  I love trying new face masks and applying them at least once a week to give my skin that glow and soothe any inflammation or irritation. I look for hydration masks like this one but stay away from clay masks because they tend to dry out my skin.  I always followed with a Qua Sha stone facial massage to help move lymph fluid out of my body and increase circulation.

Once a week at night I also use Tretinoin cream in lieu of a moisturizer to help increase collagen production, stopping the production of excess pigment, and treating acne at the source if any. I always apply a layer of facial oil to prevent my skin from dehydration.

MONTHLY ROUTINE

It is recommended that we get some sort of professional facial spa services once a month to maintain the health of our skin. But monthly facials at a spa can be costly and time-consuming so I choose wisely.  My current favorite is visiting Calabloom Medspa for an Oxyneo Hydra facial.  My skin feels rejuvenated and the glow can last up to one week.  I highly recommend this facial right before a big event.

ANNUAL ROUTINE

Another routine that I added to my skincare regimen is the RF (Radio Frequency) Microneedling.  I just had one session done at Calabloom Medspa and already saw remarkable differences in my skin.  My 2nd session will be in a couple of weeks and after that, it will be once every year to maintain the health of my skin.

There are some women who are blessed with beautiful skin and need minimal products to maintain.  However, for other women like me who are not born with beautiful skin, we have to work extra hard.  I hope the above complete skincare regimen helps to give you a purview into how I take care of skin and to what extent.  Some of these steps may work for you while others won’t. .  Sometimes your skin may grow out of some products that you have loved dearly over the years and are no longer working. I can name a lot of those products for myself.  That’s why I always take the “try them first” approach to see what works well for my skin based on my skin’s condition.  Maintaining the health of my skin is equally important as my health. If I don’t look good I don’t feel good.  If I don’t feel good I won’t reach my full confidence potential.
