Gray or white hair is pretty much inevitable with aging.  Although I visit my hairstylist every 8 to 9 weeks for a trim I avoid the hair dying process like a plague at the salon.  Not only because it’s expensive but also I don’t have a lot of time to spare.  I’ve been coloring my own hair for years and I have been very loyal to this brand.

A little over a month ago I was contacted by Madison Reed, an online retailer that delivers salon-quality hair products to your home, to conduct a review on their hair products.  I’m a beauty junkie so whenever I hear a brand that makes healthy, professional hair products that can be used at home I don’t hesitate.  If I don’t try it I will never know.  Here’s my take on this product.

The Goods:

Permanent Hair Color in Dark Brown

Madison Reed-1

The Claim:

The ingredients are packed with hair-fortifying and protecting ingredients including Argan Oil, Keratin, and Ginseng Root.  The advanced formula delivers luminous shine and 100% gray coverage without the stink, burn, or itch of the harsh chemicals found in other colors.  This leaves hair stronger and allows it to hold color longer.

Mama’s Take:

The hair color that I’m used is dark brown.  On their website, you answer a series of questions to determine the Madison Reed Hair Color for you.  They also offer phone, email or even chat online with a consultant who can hep you choose the right color.  Since I was able to locate my color I didn’t need to that.  The ordering process was super easy. The shipping was really quick too.

I have to say though that I was really impressed with their packaging.  It wasn’t just their easy to read instructions guide, but they thought of everything you need for an at-home hair dying job.  They included 2 sets of gloves (one for applying the color and the other for rinsing the dye), barrier cream to apply to your forehead, ears and neck to protect dye from getting on your skin.  The package also came with their shampoo and conditioner to lock in and preserve your color for softer, shinier, thicker hair.   The whole process was easy and the bottles did not stink up my home.  I followed the instructions as stated and not only were my grays covered but my hair felt shinier, softer and thicker!  Here’s my before and after photos!

Madison Reed Before After

You can enroll on their continuous color plan for $19.99 that you can schedule or you can purchase their one time box for $24.95.  Either way I think this is a great price.  Why pay the salon price when you can achieve the same results that cost a fraction of the price?

  1. GREAT REVIEW!!! This is exactly the type of product that I’m looking for. I just started covering my grey a few weeks ago and I also used a natural product from a homeopathic store.

This is the type of company that really understands women’s needs.
