Disclosure: I was asked  to participate in the #EvineEntertains campaign, sponsored by Evine. Although I have been compensated, all opinions are my own.

I love entertaining at home.  To me, it is the experience of a meal from the shopping, to the music you play when you mince the garlic while drinking a glass of wine, to talk to your friends about life and kids.

What I really love is bringing my friends and family over to share a meal with us.  It’s a great way to catch up with everyone in a more relaxed setting.  We can sit back and laugh out loud while the music is playing.  The best part is that we all get to make some wholly unwholesome jokes without being judged.

Since hubby works on the weekends it’s been a challenge for us to invite friends over frequently.  However, we always make an effort to host dinner parties a few times a year from summer to winter.

Recently, we invited a few friends over for an alfresco dinner on the patio with the help of the shopping channel Evine, Waterford, and The Deen Brothers! #EvineEntertains #EvinePartner

Whenever we entertain, we always have appetizers and wine readily available.  We also bring out the best dinnerware and glasses, and we serve everything to the plate.  Although we serve whites and reds throughout the night but we prefer to serve red for dinner because red wines are the perfect complement for rich entrees.  Of course, they also set the tone for the second half of the evening.

The intensity of red wines like Deen Brothers’ Savannah Cellars Red Table Wine – with hints of dark fruits and oak – pairs effortless with pork, chicken, steak, seafood, and even pizza.  This wine is well balanced, full bodied but not overwhelming.  The Deen Brothers (Paula Deen’s sons) partnered with an award winning master vintner to develop the wines they sell. They are sold in sets of 3, 6 or 12 and you can even order a monthly subscription.

Fine, lead crystal like Marquis by Waterford Newberry Crystalline Glasses really does enhance the wine drinking experience.  Another entertaing piece that I absolutely love from Marquis by Waterford is the gorgeous Diamond 44 oz Crystal Pitcher adorned with darling diamond cuts and fantastic flat cuts.  You can serve ice cold lemonade, infused water, or even sangria (there’s a sangria contest below 🙂 )

I’m a big fan of Waterford because of its fine craftsmanship and timelessness, which never goes out of style.

I really do love entertaining because It gives me so much joy and happiness to be able to spoil my friends and family.  The thrill  and the anticipated ambiance of the venue keep me going through the preparations.

  1. We make our Sangria similar to the way you make punch for a birthday party. Sometimes we use Big Red(a soda popular in Texas), white wine, and crushed ice. Other times we replace the crushed ice with vanilla ice cream.

I like to make Sangria with Red wine:
1 750 ml bottle of red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Rioja reds, Zinfandel, Shiraz)
    1 Lemon cut into wedges
    1 Orange cut into wedges
    2 Tbsp sugar
    1 Shot brandy
2 Cups ginger ale or club soda

Pour wine in the pitcher and squeeze the juice wedges from the lemon and orange into the wine.
Toss in the fruit wedges (leaving out seeds if possible) and add sugar and brandy.
Chill overnight. Add ginger ale or club soda just before serving.
If you’d like to serve right away, use chilled red wine and serve over lots of ice.
Addition ideas: sliced strawberries, diced peaches, a handful of fresh blueberries, raspberries, kiwi slices, a shot or two of gin, brandy or rum, a cup of ginger ale, citrus soda or fresh squeezed lime juice.
