5 Ways To Wear Polka Dots This Spring

Polk dots are getting a revamp and are popping up everywhere. This dot pattern is one of my favorites because it is whimsical yet elegant and classic.  Without a doubt, this print is to be seen this spring/summer and here are a few ways I follow religiously to nail the print without looking like a life-size Minnie Mouse:   

PAIR WITH BOLD COLORS 

There’s something undeniably flirty and feminine about polka dot pattern because black and white polka dots work with just about any color.  I love mixing a black and white polka dot clothing item with a splash of red, pink, yellow, or blue. So there’s plenty of options when you want to make a fashion statement.

MIX BIG AND LITTLE DOTS

I love to mix prints of different scales.  That means matching a piece that has a big print to a piece that has a much smaller print.  I feel that the secret to achieving a successful juxtaposition of the polka dot print is to have one print smaller in scale than the other.  

MIX IT WITH JEANS 

Jeans go with just about anything, especially with a fun and whimsical print like polka dots.  You just can’t go wrong.

ALL OVER POLKA DOT 

An allover polka dot dress may not work in the boardroom but it sure will work for a date night, brunch, cocktail dinner, or wedding.  Make sure you keep everything else neutral or low key for an elegant feel.

MIXING PATTERNS 

The polka dots pattern is so versatile that you can mix with any print or pattern.  You can wear polka dots and stripes together but make sure to mix a larger pattern with a smaller one.
