Thanks to the health insurance open enrollment process I can start, stop or change my health insurance plan.  We all don’t plan to get sick or hurt, but some of us need medical care at some point.  Having health insurance can protect you and your family should you or they have a serious illness and takes care of expensive treatment so you don’t suffer financially.

I take pride in taking care of me and my family’s health not just by practicing a healthy lifestyle but also being insured for potential medical care and treatment.

The open enrollment period is open from now until January 31st.  And you can select the right healthcare insurance benefits for you and your family too during the open enrollment period! This is an important time to enroll in benefits for the first time or reexamine your current health care coverage for you and your family, especially if you live in California.  This year, California issued statewide mandates around tax penalties for those who are not insured.  However, recent legislation in California granted additional subsidies to an extended range of income brackets, thus allowing for California residents to be eligible to receive financial assistance for medical insurance payments who may not have previously qualified.

I know most of us do get overwhelmed with selecting the health insurance plan during the open enrollment process but this process is actually very simple and easy.  I just completed mine last month and it took less than 2 minutes.

My advice is to make sure your preferred physicians are listed within the insurance network so that you get the best care you and your family need.

By the way, my twins were delivered at an out of state Dignity Health hospital, my preferred insurance network at the time.  All three of us received the best care from the medical staff. Prior to their birth, I enrolled with their prenatal and birth classes that really helped me prepare for my twin’s delivery.

If you are looking for a compassionate, high-quality and affordable patient-centered care in California I highly recommend Dignity Health.  They are one of the nation’s largest health systems with over 10,000 physicians, more than 60,000 employees, 39 acute-care hospitals and more than 400 care-centers, including neighborhood hospitals, urgent care, and walk-in care, surgery and imaging centers, home health and primary and specialty care clinics.

This is the time to approach the health insurance selection process with a refreshed, renewed mindset to ensure you make a decision based on the type of care you’d like to receive and to ensure you and your family are treated by the physicians who care about you.  You can go here to learn more about the open enrollment process.  Don’t wait! You can do the enrollment process while having a cup of coffee as I did!

  1. I will never do health care through the government EVER again! It “ruined” my life. And now ruined is a very harsh word, let me just say THE SYSTEM put me through so much HELL that was so unnecessary! California is the WORST because it advertises that you can ONLY get health insurance THROUGH THE GOVERNMENT but that’s just not the case at all!

I know. Our health system isn’t the best but so fortunate that we have the option to choose what is right for us and our family.

Thank you so much! I hope other people are aware and do make the choices that are best for them.

  4. One of the best gifts that we could ever have in this country is to get a FREE healthcare for all. Or at a very minimal cost to everyone, no exception.
One major medical event, and all the stability can bankrupt a family. High cost of health insurance, high cost of elementary blood tests has a highway robbery price tag on them.
This has to be solved! Look how many trillions they spend on the military!

  5. I have privet insurance and I’m glad I have it, because the health care system in the Netherlands sucks

Ohh..I thought the Europeans got the best health insurance?!

  6. Dignity Health looks like a great health center. Luckily here in Chicago we have options for health insurance. My family actually doesn’t have a “traditional” health insurance plan. We have insurance through a cost-sharing Christian ministry (Christian Healthcare Ministries). We can choose wherever we want to go. I’ve had it for a few years already and we’ve been through several emergencies, etc. It’s a little more work as it’s basically “self-pay” and then you submit everything to the ministry. But if saves our family a lot of money.

My husband and I are looking at health care plans right now. We are looking for one with good coverage and easy payment terms. This is not an easy task but we are getting to it. There is so many enticing offers that we makes sure we look at the “fine print” before committing to any one.

I’m sure you guys will find the right one. Make sure you read the fine prints.

  8. Healthcare in the US is so complicated. I’m Canadian and so have always had access to public health care – so even if you don’t have private insurance you’re covered for the basics.

I hear yah! My husband is Canadian and he never had to pay for any health services when living in Canada. But he did pay A LOT of taxes though for health coverage.
