One of the ways to achieve the half-up or pony tail bouffant hairstyle is using the right products. On most days when I wake up I simply don’ t have the time to fuss with the blow-dryer, the curling iron or any products. In this scenario then my go-to hairstyle would be a low messy bun or pony taiI. And when I do I often amp up the roots to get that edgy look. I’m not always successful but with a little help from the right products along with enough practice it gets easier and better each time.
On today’s post, I’d like to share which products I have been religiously reaching for to achieve such look. To amp up the roots, I use a hair lifting spray, tease the crown and finish the style with the L’Oreal Elnett hairspray. For months, I’ve been using the Root Boosting Volumizing Tonic from Nuance and really loving it. When it was time to stock up, I decided to try another brand. I chose Not Your Mother’s because I really like their sea salt texturizing spray, which I wrote a review about it here.
You know what? They are the same. Both products build thickness and lift at the roots for that amplified, high impact volume look. Although I prefer the spray nozzle on Not Your Mother’s Plump For Joy thicking Hair Lifter but that’s not the deal breaker. What I love is the difference in price. Not Your Mother’s Plump For Joy thicking Hair Lifter ($5.99 for 8 fl. oz.) is more cost effective than Nuance ($12.99 for 6 fl. oz). Why pay more when I can achieve the same look just by using a similar product to take my roots to new heights with a much lower price.
