Welcome to my monthly series called Investment or Divestment, formerly known as My Monthly Favorite Investments, where each month I share my reviews of products I have purchased and whether I think they are an investment or a divestment.  Here are the products I tried and tested for the month of November.

investment-1

1. derma e Anti-Wrinkle Vitamin A Gycolic Cleanser ($9.79).  I have used this product before and absolutely loved it but I no longer could locate it at the drugstore.  Thanks to Amazon I was able to locate it but with a different packaging – or so I thought.  This cleanser cleaned everything including my eye makeup.  However, it dries my face more so than its predecessor.    I then noticed the label on the bottle, “for Normal to Oily skin” – duh!  Maybe I didn’t read it right when I bought it?  Went back to Amazon and couldn’t locate such info anywhere.  It turns out that the picture was really small that I couldn’t even see that “Normal to Oily” was highlighted.  I think this will work great for someone who has normal to oily skin.  It’s definitely not for my dry aging skin.  Will try another product.  Verdict: Divestment

2. OZ Naturals Hyaluronic Acid Serum ($15.79).  I try to keep myself updated about skincare breakthroughs.  Sometimes, it can be very overwhelming because I get so confused at what I should be using for my skin.  I read about Hyaluronic Acid a while back and have been meaning to try it.  When I was buying the derma e cleanser I saw a Hyaluronic Acid Serum from OZ Naturals scrolling through the recommended products section.    I have used and even did a couple reviews for Oz Naturals, so I trust their brand.

This serum glides right on my skin and it immediately tightens my face.  I use this once a day, usually first thing in the morning after my face wash.  I let it sit for 10 minutes and apply the ERASA XEP 30 over, followed by the RoC Skincare serum & SPF.  I just started using this serum a couple weeks ago and really love how it makes my skin feel.  Verdict: Investment

3. SkinCeuticals Retinol 1.0 ($45). I read about retinols in general and have even used it once before my pregnancy.  I stopped using it when my face turned beet red and started to peel, like big peels.  Anyhow, I think that process traumatized me because I couldn’t calm my face down with anything.  It took almost a month for the redness to disappear and the peeling to stop.

Fast forward 6 years later I started using RoC Skincare Correxion products.  I was a bit scared at first because their products contain retinol.  Luckily my skin did not react to their products and even got my skin to assimilate to the retinol ingredient.

I’ve been using this retinol cream from SkinCeuticals for the past couple weeks and the only major side effect was the undereye areas.  They got really red and my skin was peeling.  For a whole week I looked like a little devil racoon!  Since then, I put a very small amount under my eyes every other day.  I do see small skin peeling but my face is not red.  I think it will take a few weeks to see any results. For now I think my verdict is Investment!

Everyone’s skin reacts differently.  If you want to them you can find the products here…
