I have always had problems wearing lighter lip colors.  You see, my lips are two different colors – brownish on top and pinkish on the bottom.  Regardless of what color of lipstick I wear I will always end up with two different lipstick colors on my lips.  Although wearing darker lipstick helps even out the color but that doesn’t always work.  And forget about lighter lip colors because the colors don’t even stick to my lips.

Over the years I have learned some tricks to neutralize my lips so that light or dark colors would glide on evenly. Here are my four fail-proof ways to get the ideal lighter lip colors on my two-toned lips…

STEP 1: NEUTRALIZE YOUR LIPS

The first step I do is apply foundation on my lips.  I love the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation because it doesn’t try out my lips yet light enough to even out the two-toned lip colors.  This creates a nice, natural base for lipstick.

STEP 2: LINE YOUR LIPS

I don’t have perfect lips so I like to line my lips with lip liner.  But most importantly, it makes my lipstick look better and last longer.

STEP 3: LAYER ON LIPSTICK

This step is the easiest since my lips are already lined with a lip liner.  Just layer it on and I am all set.

STEP 4: DOUBLE LAYER ON LIPSTICK/LIPGLOSS

This step is optional.  Sometimes I add a lipgloss for the shine.  Most often than not I love to layer on a different lipstick for the ideal shade.

Voila!  Natural pink lips!  I am wearing the Charlotte Tilbury The Pretty Pink Lipstick Set that I purchased from the Nordstrom Sale in these pictures.  They are my everyday go-lip lipsticks.
