Welcome to, A Month of Tiny Delights for January, a new series where each month I invite you to pause and revel in life’s little blissful moments that can turn a whole day around since it can be hard to slow down at a time in life where everything moves so quickly.  So this January why not….

Have A Cup of Healthy Juice

january

Why not have a cup of healthy juice this month.  Yes, juicing can be unhealthy due to high levels of sugar (natural sugar from fruits).  I think that as long as you drink it in moderation having a cup of juice can be healthy.

Learn a New Skill

Do you have a new skill that you’ve been wanting to learn?  Last summer I decided to learn how to swim and that felt liberating and rewarding.  Sure, I’d hang out at the pool before but I would sit in the shallow end and won’t venture anywhere that was highter than 3ft tall.  I was terrified of getting drowned and after four years of owning a home with a pool I finally decided to learn how to swim. So whatever it is that you want to learn don’t be afraid because it will surprise you.

The First Cup of The Day

A cup of coffee always put a smile on my face.  Do you love to drink coffee too? If not, how about a cup of tea?  It sets the tone for the day.

Have An Early Morning Walk

I have not done this for a while and have been thinking about doing this on the weekends.  I love the cool crisp air in the mornings in fall and winter (well, here in Los Angeles that is 🙂 )

Tuning into Nature

I need to do this more often.  We have not hiked for a while and the boys are old enough now that we can take them to some easy hiking trails.

Witness Small Wonders

This can definitely put a smile on your face.  It did for me. My kids found a bird nest in one of the trees at my sister’s home.  It was such a joy to see the mother bird bringing food to feed her little ones and resting in the nest that she had built.  Felt so comforting to witness that. Next time when you see a tree with birds flocking around you may want to look up because there might be a nest with little cute birds in it.

Looking After A Dog

We had a dog but he’s no longer with us.  Our kids have been asking for a dog but it’s such a huge responsibility that we are not ready for it.  So whenever my sister is out of town we would look after her dog. We get to have fun with the dog without the responsibility!

Buy Flowers

Sometimes on my way home from work I would pop into a supermarket and buy a bunch of flowers like tulips or roses.  Then I’d disperse each bloom around our home in vases and mugs so there are flowers everywhere! The process feels meditative and it gives me a sense of peace and calm.

Let Your Desk Be Messy

My desk is always messy, except when we throw parties or have guests over.  For me I function better in a controlled chaos. So, hey let your desk be messy this month and just let it go!

Don’t Assign Any Deadlines

This can be tough for anyone who likes to make a list and assign deadlines, like my hubs.  But sometimes there are things in life that do not require any deadlines. So why not do that to alleviate unnecessary stress.
