Should you buy holiday gifts for your neighbors? I received my first-holiday gift from my neighbor on Christmas Eve and it was the most awkward moment for me.  I was not prepared at all and made a last-minute dash to Vons to pick up a gift, which was very limited, to give back. Although it’s appreciated that you give a gift back but it is not expected.

Regardless, ever since then I made a conscious effort to gift my neighbors during the holidays because we want to express to them that we care about them, that they’re important to us, and most of all that we appreciate what they do for us while we’re away. They take our trash cans in and out and keep shipments in their home until we return home from our vacations. Even when we’re home they keep an eye out for strangers in the neighborhood. They are our home guardians.

We recently moved to a new location and we still carry on with our Christmas traditions. Although homemade cookies and cupcakes are the best gifts to give your neighbors, you have other options if baking isn’t your thing like me. Like my sons said, “Mom you’re a fantastic cook but a terrible baker-LOL.” So, instead of baking crappy sweets that my neighbors will likely throw away, I prefer to give them thoughtful gifts that they can actually use. L’Occitane is one of the brands that I reach for (this is not a sponsored content by the way) because their gift sets are beautiful and the products are amazing. I have not heard one single person who doesn’t like their L’Occitane gift! And I always get something for myself, like their Shea Butter Body Cream or the Advent Calendars – I love daily surprises!!!
