Welcome to our monthly series, A Month of Tiny Delights.   Last month I did all of those things so that I could slow down and enjoy those blissful moments.  This May I invite you to pause and revel in life’s little blissful moments that can turn a whole day around since it can be hard to slow down at a time in life where everything moves so quickly.

So for this month why not…

SHOP AT A THRIFT STORE

tiny delights

If finding deals can make you feel good why not stop by a thrift store and shop till you drop.  You don’t have to buy everything you see but you never know what you will find.

DECORATE YOUR HOME WITH FRESH TULIPS AND DAFFODILS

I love adding color to my surroundings because it makes the house and I feel alive. Decorating with live flowers or houseplants is always a good option.

PLANT SOMETHING GREEN

I don’t have a green thumb and have a tendency to kill every green spec of a stem that is near me.   Having said that I would love to just sit in my backyard and plant something.  Plants are the backbone of all life on earth not to mention an essential resource for human well-being.

SIT OUTSIDE AT A CAFE

One of my favorite things to do in spring and summer is to sit outside a cafe and do people watch.  I love alfresco dining because, for me,  the food tastes better and fresher.

FIND A PLAYGROUND AND SWING ON THE SWINGS

Whenever I take my kids to the park I would look for the swings and swing on them.  It takes me back to my childhood and it’s such a relaxing and soothing experience.

STEAM WHOLE ARTICHOKES AND EAT THEM LEAF BY LEAF

Growing up my grandmother would boil the artichokes and I would peel the leaves off and eat them leaf by leaf.  This vegetable is affordable, tasty and full of nutrients.

LEAVE YOUR WINDOWS OPEN TO CATCH A SPRING BREEZE

This spring why not open your windows and catch the breeze.  It’s so good for your well-being!

JOG OUTSIDE

Exercising is so important to your health.  If you can still jog why not do a 15 or 30-minute jog outside of your home.   I practice yoga at home a few times a week but whenever I walk the kids to the park I would jog around the park while they play.

FEED THE DUCKS AT A POND

Have you tried feeding the ducks at a pond?  It’s a gratifying experience.  My kids love doing this and just seeing the joy that this gesture brings is all the worthwhile.

WATCH BUMBLEBEES AT WORK IN A GARDEN

I know most people are allergic to bees myself included.  But if you are not afraid of bees or not allergic to them like one of my kids then why not watch them in action.  Seeing nature doing its natural stuff can reduce your stress!

May is the month where trees and flowers begin to lose its luster in preparation for summer.   But there’s still plenty of time to do one or all of the above tiny delights to turn your day around.
