I’m so excited to share my home studio with you! I now have a dedicated creative working space to shoot and film my content. In order for me to create meaningful and useful video content, it’s crucial to have an adequate working area to support my goals. This is one of the milestones that I had set for myself to complete by the end of July.

Getting the home studio set up is a lot more work than I had anticipated. Yes, it’s only one room, and you can easily turn on a couple of lights, plug in a camera, and click the recording button, but for me, it’s more than that. If you want professional-looking videos you have to have the right equipment and the editing software to bring your content to life.
Since coming home from Argentina, I have spent a lot of time setting up my home studio. As mentioned previously, I already had some equipment that I could use but needed to replace and purchase some new items to better capture and create quality videos.
Here’s a breakdown of what I have purchased to organize and set up my new studio that will allow me to film in the comfort of my home.
THE CAMERA
I have two cameras. The Canon Rebel, a DSLR camera which I use primarily for photos, but the video quality is good so I didn’t feel like I needed to get another camera. I also have the Fuji XT20 which I use very often. I travel with this camera and have captured some amazing shots and videos from our most recent trips, which I can’t wait to share with you. Having these two cameras allows me to film multiple angles in a single take.
THE TRIPOD
A tripod is needed to stabilize the camera while shooting so you don’t have to worry about any movement that will cause camera shake. I had to get a new one to replace the flimsy one that I have been using for years.
THE MICROPHONE
I can’t stress how crucial it is to invest in a microphone because having poor sound quality is unforgiving.
THE LIGHTS
When it comes to photography or videography, lighting is everything! I already had a set of lights in place but they were not bright or strong enough for capturing videos. I ordered two more online using my Chase Freedom Unlimited cash back credit card to light up my backdrop.
THE BACKDROP
I purchased a photography backdrop a while back but had to store it away because it was bulky and took up a lot of space. Instead of using this, I actually repainted the walls in my home studio a neutral color to use as the backdrop and the outcome is just as good, if not better.
I’m not going to lie, the most intimidating task towards my 2019 goals of preparing a home studio and making video content, was the setup of this video studio, but having a working home studio with the right equipment really motivates me to create meaningful video content for you!

The set up is so professional and I guess you have invested a lot of money into this game. I have a tripod and I am not sure it is still working now.
I had a tripod before and it literally came apart. It was too flimsy. This new one that I got is very sturdy and flexible.
